I believe Wayne State has both a moral responsibility and a fiduciary duty to its students, faculty, and community. This includes carefully evaluating our investment portfolio to ensure it aligns with our ethical commitments while maintaining long-term financial sustainability. As a member of the Board of Governors, my goal would be to balance moral responsibility with practical stewardship, ensuring that the university’s resources reflect our commitment to human rights, sustainability, and ethical leadership. Together, we can help shape a stronger, more inclusive future for Wayne State University and for Michigan.
At Wayne State University, my role in ensuring transparency, responsible budgeting, and shared governance will be active, accountable, and people focused. I will ensure transparency by advocating for clear, consistent communication from the Board of Governors. This includes making financial reports, major decisions, and strategic priorities accessible and understandable to students, faculty, staff, and the public. I will push for openness in how decisions are made, so the university community remains informed and engaged.
I will ensure responsible budgeting by carefully reviewing how resources are allocated and prioritizing investments that directly support students, faculty, and academic programs. I will advocate for fiscal discipline, reduce unnecessary administrative spending, and ensure that every dollar aligns with the mission of education, research, and community impact.
I will ensure shared governance by actively listening to faculty, adjuncts, graduate students, and staff, and making sure their voices are part of the decision-making process. I will support collaboration between the administration and the broader university community, ensuring that policies are shaped with input from those they affect.
My role is to be a strong advocate, a responsible steward of resources, and a bridge between leadership and the community. By doing so, I will help build trust, strengthen accountability, and move Wayne State University forward in a way that reflects the needs and values of its people.
